Of the 13.1 million people employed, 544 000 were underemployed in 2010, a report by Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) shows.

Statistiek Suid-Afrika sê van die 13.1 miljoen mense wat werk in Suid-Afrika, is daar 544 000 wat nie hulle volle potensiaal in die werkplek behaal nie.

BUSA welcomes Eskom alms

Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) has welcomed the decision to grant Eskom a reduced tariff increase of 16%, down from the original 25.9% approved in the Multi-Year Price Determination (MYPD 2).

Parliament looks at tax relief

Parliament is looking to change taxation laws to push South African economic growth, says finance minister Pravin Gordhan.

Die regering kyk na moontlike veranderinge in belastingwetgewing om Suid-Africa se ekonomie ‘n hupstoot te gee. Deel van die beplande veranderting is om die individuele belastinggrens na R59 750 te verhoog.

BP says pipeline increase will cost SA

The cost to the economy could be up to R1-billion annually and conservative estimates are that 40 000 jobs will be lost with the National Energy Regulator of South Africa’s (Nersa) pipeline tariff increase of 59.9%.

Suid-Afrika se ekonomie gaan ‘n koste van sowat R1 miljard aangaan en kan tot 40 000 werke verloor as die verhoging van 59.9% op die Nersa oliepyp goedgekeur word.
