big_imageThe JSE opened in the red this morning amid some profit taking after following a good run this week.

Banks and financials declined 0.55% and 0.32% respectively, while industrials were flat, (down 0.05%).

The rand was bid at R7.61/$ from R7.55/$ when the JSE closed on Wednesday.

A local trader said: "We saw a bit of rand strength on Wednesday following the budget speech which took stocks lower for a short while, but other than that, there was no real impact on markets as a result of the finance ministers speech.

"Today we saw a softer opening amid some profit taking, having had a good couple of days.
