The JSE ended firmly in the black on Tuesday tracking global sentiment amid a stable euro.
At its close the JSE all share index was 0.98% firmer, with resources up 0.34%, but platinum miners gave up 0.14%, along with gold miners down 1.24%. Banks however added 1.77%, with financials gaining 1.36% and industrials 1.42% stronger. Gold was quoted at $1,2147.65/oz from $1,230.74/oz at the JSE's last close. Platinum was at $1,685.50/oz from $1,687.50/oz at the JSE's last close.
Dow Jones Newswires reports that US stocks opened higher on Tuesday as the euro stabilized.
Energy stocks rebounded as crude-oil prices bounced back.
On the JSE, Anglo added 90 cents to R289.05 while BHP Billiton picked up 221 cents to R211.50. Sasol improved R3.01 or 1.07% to R285.
