Charlie Sheen has pleaded guilty to misdemeanour assault and was sentenced to 30 days in rehab and given a 30-day suspended prison sentence after agreeing a plea bargain deal on charges relating to a domestic incident with wife Brooke Mueller last Christmas.
He was also sentenced to three months probation and must complete 36 hours of domestic violence counselling.
In a statement after sentencing, the 44-year-old star said: "I'm very grateful to the court and to the people of Pitkin County. I look forward to complying with the court's decision, getting on with my life and putting this behind me."
The actor's lawyer Yale Galanter was pleased with the court's decision, saying: "Charlie got a great sentence, and I am privileged to have been able to do this for him."
Charlie is due to return to filming 'Two and a Half Men' today and the lawyer says his client is looking forward to the future with Brooke and their 16-month-old twin sons Bob and Max.
