TX version introduced to Prado range

Toyota South Africa has added two new models in TX specification to the Prado range to compliment the top-of-the-range luxury VX specification.

This expands the range from two VX models to a four model range on the new Prado platform introduced in October last year. As with the Prado VX, seating for seven is available and the choice of engines is either a 4-litre petrol V6, or a 3-litre turbo diesel.

Despite being positioned below VX models, the Prado TX still offers an expansive list of utility and comfort items as well a full suite of active and passive safety features.

The Prado 4.0 TX petrol produces 202 kW/381 Nm. The Prado 3.0 TX diesel model has 120 kW/400 Nm. Both the petrol and diesel engines are mated to a 5-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission.

The transmission drives through a full time four-wheel drive system with Torsen-type torque sensing limited slip centre differential.

A 4WD control switch replaces the traditional floor mounted transfer shift lever used on previous models for simplified operation.

The new Land Cruiser Prado TX 4.0 V6 petrol retails for R558 500 and the TX 3.0 DT turbodiesel retails for R546 400. Both models include a 5 year/90 000 km ToyotaCare Service Plan.
