The powerful Audi RS 5 will debut at the Geneva Motor Show and is scheduled for South African release in the third quarter of this year. The model range and pricing will be confirmed later.
The high-revving 4.2-litre V8 has a seven-speed S tronic gearbox and an innovative centre differential in the quattro drivetrain to transmit power to all four wheels.
The 4.2 FSI provides imposing torque and is right at home even at high revs - almost like a race engine.
It delivers 331 kW at 8 250 r/min and - between 4 000 and 6 000 r/min - transmits 430 Nm of torque.
It sprints in 4.6 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h to an electronically governed top speed of 250 km/h. Audi can increase that to 280 km/h upon request.
Claimed average fuel is 10.8 litres/100 km.
