Another Chinese brand is being launched into SA - this time with an iconic South African name, the Nomad. Claimed to be SA's most affordable SUV, the Zotye Nomad comes well stacked with its baseline model selling for less than R120 000.
Essentially a 4x2 rear-drive only version of the previous generation Daihatsu Terios 4x4, the Nomad comes with either 63 kW 1.3-litre or 75 kW 1.5-litre engines and features that include air conditioner, power steering, electric windows and mirrors, central locking with remote keyless entry, ABS, EBD, and a CD front loader.
It will come with a 3 year/100 000km factory warranty, 3 year/75 000km service plan and 1 year roadside assistance, and initially will be sold from a few select branches in main centres.
A 4x4 version may be available later.
The 1.3 4x2 costs R119 995 and the 1.5 4x2 R139 995. Both come with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Zotye Holdings was established in 1992 in Yongkang City (Zhejiang province) and in the beginning it was a panel supplier for other motor vehicle producers.
