Mercedes-Benz in Germany has revealed its extensively updated CL-Class coupe complete with an entirely re-designed 325 kW 4.6-litre V8 biturbo engine, which offers rocketship acceleration combined with small car fuel economy.
The CL 500 BlueEfficiency version, with a combined consumption of 9,5 litres/100 km, sprints from zero to 100 km/h in 4,9 seconds, and only the electronic speed limiter stops it (at 250 km/h) from going on to the 300 km/h mark.
This makes the new CL 500 23 percent more fuel efficient than its predecessor thanks to the newly-developed BlueDirect technology plus energy-efficient control of alternator, fuel pump, air-conditioning compressor and power-assisted steering system, as well as the Eco start/stop function.
It also features the use of low rolling resistance tyres and the energy-optimised active body control system.
In addition, the Mercedes-Benz developers equipped the CL-Class with state-of-the-art multimedia technology.
The new 4663 cc V8 engine produces 325 kW and 700 Nm of torque.
Meanwhile the top-of-the-line CL 600 has a 386 kW V12 biturbo engine accelerates the luxury coupé from a standstill to 100 km/h mph in a breath-taking 4.6 seconds and now also complies with the Euro 5 emissions control standards.
