Renault SA has added a Clio S model to its range for those who don't have the cash to buy a Clio RS, but still want some of the excitement of that iconic hot hatch.
The Clio S has a sporty character, look and feel, plus a competitively-priced package of exclusive and distinctive design details.
Entering the market as the fourth in the Clio range (augmenting the high-spec 1.6 Dynamique, 2.0 Renault Sport and the 1.6 Dynamique automatic), the Clio S retains its five-door shape but gets white, multi-spoke Canasta 16-inch alloy rims fitted with 195/50 R16 tyres, white exterior mirrors, front bumper insert (flanked on either side by integrated fog lamps) and the rear lip spoiler.
The package is rounded off by dark-tinted rear windows, as well as white 'S' decals that run along the doors and across the roof.
It also has the lastest Bosch 8.0 ABS anti-lock braking system with discs all round (vented in front), as well as Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) and Emergency Brakeforce Distribution. Engine is the 1 598 cc 83 kW/151 Nm 16-valve engine used in the current Clio Dynamique linked to a five-speed transmission, with 0 to 100 km/h in 10,2 sec and a top speed of 190 km/h.
Claimed average consumption is 6,7 litres/100 km of unleaded in the combined cycle.
The price of R179 900 includes three-year/60 000 km Service Plan, as well as Renault's five-year/150 000 km warranty.
