Audi offers more options on A3

The Audi A3 hatchback can now be ordered with additional engine and transmission choices. These new models will be on sale in South Africa from November.

As part of the latest model year developments on the A3 range, a new, low-emissions 1.6 TDI engine will be available. In addition, the 1.4 Attraction model is now available with Audi's advanced 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch gearbox.

The introduction of the 1.6 TDI engine comes as the previous generation 1.9 TDI is discontinued world-wide. The new 1.6 TDI offers the same power and torque as the 1.9 TDI it replaces, but with significantly lower CO2 emissions and reduced fuel consumption.

The A3 1.6 TDI 3-door produces only 109 g/km of CO2, while the 5-door Sportback version offers a marginally higher 112 g/km of C02. Both these models will not attract any CO2 taxation.

Fuel consumption is rated at only 4,1 and 4.3 litres/100 km respectively in the combined cycle.
