Citroën South Africa has added a 1,6-litre HDi 90 turbo diesel model to the C3 range and the engine boasts 66kW of power and 215 N/m of torque; a sizeable increase over the 1.4-litre diesel’s 50kW and 160N/m.
Importantly, it has the remarkably low CO2 emission rating of 110g/km, which means buyers do not have to pay the government’s recently introduced CO2 emissions tax. The new diesel derivative, as well as most of the other C3 models, is front-wheel drive with a five-speed manual gearbox. A 1.6 VTi Automatic will be released before the end of the year.
The 1,6 HDi 90 newcomer is priced at R205 900.
Claimed performance levels are a top speed of 180km/h and 0-100km/h acceleration in 11sec.
The top of the range C3 1.6 VTi Exclusive is also being offered with added options which will fulfil the emotional needs of the C3 customers: a Hi-Fi pack, and 17" alloy wheels will be an added advantage to the style of the vehicle.
The new additions increase the models in the local C3 range to seven, with the entry level 1.4i Attraction model priced at R161 610 including VAT and the new CO2 tax. Prices include a 3-year/100 000km warranty, a 4-year/60 000km service plan and 3-year road side assistance.
“We are a customer driven company and it is for that reason that we offer such a wide range of products, equipment and trim levels as well as extra-cost options, explained Citroen’s product and price Manager Geoffroy de Russe. “The additional C3 variants are a further example of the way we strive to satisfy customer requirements”.
