'Terror' suspects charged in Zimbabwe

Two Pakistani men arrested two weeks ago in Zimbabwe as they tried to enter South Africa have been charged with using forged travel documents, police said on Wednesday.

State media had orginally linked at least one of the men to the 2008 Mumbai attacks, but police spokesman Wayne Bvudzijena said authorities were still trying to verify any connection to the Indian tragedy.

"The terrorism charges were misrepresentations in the media. However we are still verifying just in case," he said.
Imran Muhammad, 33, and compatriot Warraich Chaudhry Pervez Ahmed, 39, were charged with breaching the immigration act.

"They appeared in court yesterday and were charged with breaching immigration laws. They were each found with two travel documents," Bvudzijena said.

They were remanded in custody until July 22, to enable the State to find an interpreter.
