FFPlus wants compromise on Pretoria

The Freedom Front Plus says they are willing to accept a compromise on the name change of Pretoria.

The party says the issue could be resolved through compromise.

The reaction follows reports that a group claiming to be the descendants of “King Tshwane” has asked that the name be changed. The process was stopped last month after talks between FFPlus leader Pieter Mulder and President Jacob Zuma.

"The way in which a name was found for KwaZulu-Natal and the way we dealt with the National Anthem are examples of negotiated solutions,” says Conrad Beyers, a party spokesperson.

The Freedom Front Plus says the name Pretoria has nothing to do with apartheid as it was named before the political system was implemented as South African law.
