Zuma will do a second term

President Jacob Zuma said he would "never defy" his organisation should branches nominate him for a second term as ANC president, Business Day reports.

"I have never defied the ANC. My next step has always been informed by the ANC," Zuma said when asked if he would remain ANC leader should he be nominated by party bodies.

Zuma said he did not want to speculate on why there were already succession battles. He warned those who took their campaigns "underground" that they would be "discovered".

After an ANC national executive committee meeting over the weekend, the party, which Zuma heads, in a statement expressed concern over 2012 succession talk.

It is against the ANC's policy to lobby for positions.
