Six injured in Alberton crash

Six people, including three-year-old twins, were injured in a head-on collision in Alberton on Sunday, Ekurhuleni metro police said.

Inspector Kobeli Mokheseng said a black Opel Corsa light-delivery vehicle crashed into a white Kia Rio on JG Strydom Road on Sunday afternoon.

The twins, who were in the Kia, together with their 35-year-old driver were taken to the Union Hospital.  The 22-year-old driver of the Corsa, his 21-year-old passenger and a 37-year-old woman who was in the Kia were taken to the Natalspruit Hospital.

All the vehicles' occupants suffered serious injuries.

"It is not clear at this stage what actually caused the accident  but preliminary investigations reveal that one of the vehicles drove on the wrong side of the road before they collided head on," Mokheseng said.
