Tiger found in Mpumalanga

Panjo the Bengal tiger has been found alive in Verena, Mpumalanga, on Wednesday, Justin Fernandez, the son of Goosey, the tiger's owner said.

Panjo was found between Verena and Bronkhorstspruit. Trackers were dispatched to a small forest in the area near on Wednesday evening, after finding the spoor of Panjo.

The pet Bengal tiger jumped from his owner's bakkie on Monday night while on route to a vet appointment. He said the search team were led to a street outside Bronkhorstpruit by a sighting in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

"Trackers were confident the tiger was the area as there were no tracks leading away," he said.

Fernandez said tracker dogs picked up on the majestic animal's scent.

He was then lured out of the bushes with a piece of meat and the sound of Goosey's voice.
