A number of roads in Johannesburg's CBD is expected to be closed today for a Public Servants Association (PSA) march, where 14 000 members were expected to converge.
Johannesburg Metro Police says the march would start at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown at 11am.
Bree, Simmonds, Fox and Jeppe streets would be closed as protesters make their way up to the premiers office - where a memorandum would be handed over - and then back to the square at around 14:00.
Police will divert traffic along Anderson, Harrison and Marshall streets.
More than 200 000 members of the PSA go on strike today after they rejected government's 6.5 percent salary increase. Public servants were demanding an 8.6 percent salary increase and a housing subsidy of R1000 effective from April 1. Government was offering a 6.5 percent salary increase and R620 housing subsidy with effect from July 1.
