Warriors lift T20 trophy

The Warriors bowling attack was too good for the Lions batsmen in Friday's T20 final played in Port Elizabeth and the home side recorded an emphatic 82 run win.

The Lions were never the favourites to lift the trophy, but some good bowling kept them in the hunt until the final over of the Warriors’s innings. Mark Boucher again showed his class in this format of the game, smashing four sixes in the final over (and 27 off just nine balls) to lift the Port Elizabeth side to 186 for two in their twenty overs.

Jacques Kallis (55) and Ashwell Prince (69) had earlier laid the foundation for the big total.

Neil McKenzie, who carried a lot of the Lions side's hopes with the bat, fell for five and the rest of the Gauteng side followed suit.

They were all out for 104 in the 18th over, still far short of the desired number.

Makhaya Ntini, Juan Theron, Juan Botha and Nicky Boje each claimed two wickets in the Lions innings to hand the Warriors the 2010 T20 trophy.
