Steyn, Morkel strike early

big_imageDale Steyn and Morne Morkel have sent shivers through the India dressing room with three wickets on the third morning of the first Test in Nagpur.

India has 88 for three before lunch, chasing South Africa’s 558/6 declared.

Morkel struck first, getting Gautam Gambhir in the sixth over of the innings for 12. Gambhir got a faint edge and was caught behind by Mark Boucher.

Three overs later it was Steyn’s turn. The number one fast bowler in the world got one to swing away from Murali Vijai and it was left alone. The next delivery, however, dislodged the bail on the off stump when the India batsman thought he was leaving a similar delivery; this one came back sharply and Vijai was out for four.

The big fish of the morning, Sachin Tendulkar, was also fooled by an away-swinger and he was caught behind by Boucher.

Virender Sehwag looks to be the dangerous batsman for the home side, 48 off 67 balls in his innings so far.
