India extends their lead to 135

big_imageWith less than half of the second Test match played, India has a first innings lead of 135 runs and they still have four wickets standing.

India started the third morning with a lead of 46, and, after South Africa got hold of the new ball, lost Amit Mishra after a good catch by Jacques Kallis.

That was the only piece of good fielding this morning, with another three catches going down, two of them by Kallis in the slips, this morning. The one dropped by Kallis from VVS Laxman off the bowling of Paul Harris could hand the Test to the home side.

Virender Sehwag (165) and Sachin Tendulkar (106) yesterday wiped out the South African first innings score of 296 and this morning's combination of bad fielding and great batting could easily put the game beyond the reach of South Africa.

Laxman, on 39 not out at lunch, looks happy at the crease and he could easily add another ton to the Indian score, especially if more catches get dropped.

South Africa needs to draw the Test to take the number-one spot on world Test cricket rankings.
