South Africa showed character by overcoming a 16-3 deficit to win their first test of the season against Wales by 34 points to 31 in the Millenium Stadium on Saturday.
Wales came close in the end, but the South African defence held up well to secure the victory. Both sides scored three tries, but South Africa’s kicking gave them the edge in the end.
Danie Rossouw was outstanding for the Springboks.
South Africa hit the lead for the first time after 42 minutes when flanker Dewald Potgieter took the ball from Danie Rossouw and surged over for a converted try.
Wales went for all or nothing in the end, but lost the ball and handed the Prince William Cup to John Smit’s Springboks.
