West Indies own day three

Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Brendan Nash kept out the South African bowling attack on day three of the second Test and took the home side to 424 /4 at the close; still 119 runs short of South Africa’s first innings score.

With only two days left in the Test, the home side looks like they will finally manage not to lose a match after beatings in the T20, ODI-series and the first Test.

Chanderpaul is still at the crease with his score on 151, but Nash was run out by AB de Villiers for 114. The West Indies captain, Chris Gayle, was out, bowled by Morkel, for 50.

The South African bowlers struggled in the St Kitts heat, with only Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel taking a wicket each on the third day. Morkel took his first wicket on the second day.
