Caster Semenya's coach, Michael Seme, says the world 800m champion would be aiming for a time almost 10 seconds slower than her personal best when she lines up for her first race in almost a year in Finland tomorrow night.
Seme told the USA Today website the 19-year-old would target a time of two minutes, four seconds at the Lappeenranta Games. She set her 1:55.45 career best, a South African record, at the global championships in Berlin last August.
The fastest in the field this year is Olga Yekimenko of the Ukraine (2:03.33), and while Semenya is not entirely fit and is expected to be below her best, she should still be competitive and will have a win in her sights.
Semenya's manager, Jukka Harkonen, also told the website Semenya would compete at the Lapinlahti Games on Sunday.
The teenager was cleared last week to run against women, 11 months after the IAAF ordered gender tests shortly before she won the world title.
The Lappeenranta Games will be shown live on SuperSport 2. Coverage starts at 7pm and Semenya's race is expected to start at 7.25pm.
