Three people were killed when a truck and trailer collided with their Toyota Fortuna on Sunday morning between Kroonstad and Welkom, paramedics said.
Three people were killed when a truck and trailer collided with their Toyota Fortuna on Sunday morning between Kroonstad and Welkom, paramedics said.
The car was struck on the driver's side at the intersection of Koppie Alleen and Jason roads around 9am, ER24 spokeswoman Vanessa Jackson said in a statement
"The Fortuna was hit from the driver’s side with massive impact."
The Fortuna then collided with a Nissan on the other side of the intersection before coming to a halt about 100 metres from the point of impact.
All three occupants of the Fortuna, a woman and two men estimated to be between 35 and 45, were killed. The two occupants of the Nissan, a woman and her child, sustained minor injuries. The truck driver was unhurt.
